About me
I'm Caitlin Carney, a tattoo artist at True Colours in Preston, Lancashire.
How I got here
I was always creative and loved drawing when I was young. I was good at it, and I knew I could have a job where that skill counted, so I'd do a great job and love it at the same time.
I started my apprenticeship in 2023.
The work I love most is portraits, especially characters from films and TV shows, and anything Christian. Faith is a big part of my life, and tattooing Christian pieces means I can commit my work to my faith and help other Christians get good tattoos from someone who shares their values.
I also do script and lettering, memorial pieces, the odd cover-up, and walk-ins on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I work in black and grey and in colour.
The studio
True Colours Tattoo & Piercing Studio is on Guildhall Street in Preston city centre, next to the Guild Hall. I haven't been at True Colours long, but the environment there as a working artist is incredible and the friendships are great. I was a customer before I worked there, and my experience then was brilliant.
Most of my clients come from Preston and around Lancashire: Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Blackpool and Lancaster. A good few travel from further across the North West for bigger pieces. There's a page on getting here.
My old name
Before 2026 I tattooed as Caitlin O'Brien. Same hands, same work, new name. If you had a piece from Caitlin O'Brien at True Colours, that was me, and I'd love to see how it's healed.
